First, has development of this app come to an end?? I notice that there has been nothing for almost a year. If development is continuing, or will resume, then the lists need check box option. For example, creating a shopping list, I need a way to check off items as they h ave been purchased.

Development of Memability is not stopped. The latest version 0.9.9 was released about 2 weeks ago.
We are going to add possibility to mark notes as “done” in the nearest future.
For now, I can suggest you a different approach: add a note “Done” and move notes that represent completed tasks or items you purchased under that note. This is what I do myself. May be not the ideal way, but it works for me.
